Royal Family Portrait to appear in Majesty Magazine
Ralph Steadman originally drew the Royal Family in 1968 for Private Eye. His sartorial eye would have been looking to highlight the flaws and ridiculous pomposity as society began to question their right to so much unquestioning support from the British People.
With the wedding of William and Kate and that of Charles and Camilla, boosting the Royal Family's popularity in recent years, it will be incredible to see the portrait with the power of hindsight. In 1968 would a staunchly Royalist publication ever have considered printing such a cartoon?
