Sapeer Mayron More about the Manumea
Earlier this year, Ralph was contacted by an organisation in Samoa pledged to save their national bird, the manumea, also know as the 'Little Dodo'. Moved as he was to learn that less than 200 of these exotic pigeons are left in Samoa he immediately contacted fellow Gonzovationist, Ceri Levy, determined to help the movemeny however he could. He headed straight to his drawing board to draw the threatened creature. When Ceri and Ralph had been working together on Nextinction, the 2nd book in what would be the Gonzovation Trilogy, the manumea had not been critically endangered and had been over-looked for inclusion. Sadly in a few years it's classification had been changed as its numbers declined.
The manumea is doubly unlucky as its demise is linked to the hunting of a different local species of pigeon on the islands and is shot as a terrible by product of the desireability for the cooking pot of its avian cousin.
To help raise money for the Save the Manumea! Campaign, Ralph is offering 100 signed prints for sale with all profits being donated. Each print will be signed by Ralph and is A2 in size.
They can be purchased here but you will also be able to follow the link below to purchase directly from Eight One who are partnering with the Save the Manumea Campaign.
